Alice in MurderLand on Netflix Brated horror

So I was bored and looking for something to watch on Netflix and I came across this little hilarity of a horror film.

It's about a Alice In Wonderland themed birthday that a killer shows up at... its super B'rated. The acting is pretty terrible, the plot is so bad.. I've been laughing while watching it. Everybody is predecided as a character.

It's just soo bad. If you like B'rated Horror films, or alice in wonderland you might enjoy this. But don't say I didn't warn you.

Warm Bodies a review

I was excited to see this come out.. even though I missed going to 5 different preview screenings. I had picked up the book and started reading it before I realized the book I was reading had become a feature film. I really enjoyed the book, though for me it was a slow read. I was a little sad about the changes between the book and the movie but I still enjoyed it.

R is a zombie who is falling in love with a living girl, changing the zombie population forever for the good. Its a cute love story, a new imagining of Romeo and Juliet.

I totally dug it. It is a great date night movie.

Movie 43 a reivew

I decided to take a chance on this film the other day because there was nothing else in theatres that i had either not seen or wanted to see. So I took a chance.. and it was ... n't really funny at all. I mean it was just in the fact that all the high powered actors were willing to act totally nuts and crazy with a film.

I will say that the funniest scene was the beginning one with Hugh Jackman. I laughed a lot. Seeing him with a set of nuts on his neck was more then funny. But from there the scenes just seemed more and more like the writers were trying too hard to be funny and just weren't. I was sad I was hoping that it would be funnier but you can't always tell with film like these. So the verdict is.. if you see it on cable maybe check it out if you have nothing else to do, but other then that I'd say take a pass.

The Baytown Outlaws a review

Now I saw this film when it was still living under another name and have been waiting for it to come to theatres for quite a while. I was sad to see that it almost completely skipped theatres and went straight to demand and bluray. It was a pretty decent film.

The movie stars Billy Bob Thorton and Eva Longoria. The 3 main guys are all pretty much new comers to the scene, but were enjoyable and fun to watch. I really liked watching all of the actors perform together.

I think if you see this film available for rent you should.

Hansel and Gretel Witchhunters a review

I loved this fun fairy tale spin with Jeremy Renner. Lots of cheesy bloody action. I super enjoyed it.

Hansel and Gretel are now adults and they have become witchhunters. They go around the world killing witchs and collecting bounties. They show up at a town being ravaged by witches. They show up and realize that there may be more going on then meets the eye and they are forced to use all they have to combat the witches and their evil plot.

I adore Jeremy Renner and I am so glad he has been popping up in so many movies. He makes me so happy. I really enjoyed watching the film. The film is lots of fun if you love a mix of cheesy horror and action. This may not be a run to the theatre kind of movie, but definitely a watch this film when you get the chance.

Parker a review

Now if you are a Jason Statham fan. You are in for a fun treat with this one. I really dug it. I like him in almost everything he does. He's funny and an action star what more do you need really. Right? He Also almost always plays a good guy, I love that even though he's a tough guy he always is trying to do the right thing.

So this film is about a thief Parker (Jason Statham) is left for dead by a gang of thiefs after a big heist and goes to seek out vengence on the team and to get his cut. He befriends Jennifer Lopez. Together they work trying to get his money back and get her set up again since her life is pretty much in shambles.

The movie has a cast of colorful characters including Nick Nolte, Jennifer Lopez, Jason Statham, and more. I really thought everyone did a pretty good job. The film was enjoyable and fun. Lots of action. This is definitely a must see for action fans.

Touch a tv series - Netflix gems

So tonight since I couldn't sleep. I decided to watch a new tv series or at least new to me. It's called Touch. I'm a huge softie and I cried during the first episode. It was really a fantastic show. So I am going to end up finishing the entire series.

Kiefer Sutherland is the main character in this show, a father to an autistic boy who can in his quiet world in a way tell the future. The show is very emotional and very interesting.

The show follows more then one set of characters as they navigate their lives. I fell in love with the show and finished off all 13 episodes in season 1 right away. Now I am going to start season 2. (Just found that when looking up how many episodes were in the first season, that there even was a season 2.) I really loved how well the writers did a good job and making the show so emotional.

Keifer Sutherland plays the father. He loves his son so much and tries desperately to connect with him. His son Jake is played by David Mazouz who does a fabulous job being a mute autistic kid fascinated with numbers. The show settles around Jake giving his dad numbers and Keifer trying to figure out what they mean. Each set of numbers is attached to a person and events.

The show is interesting, funny, emotional and intriguing. I definitely say this a watch me. Do it watch the show.

Silent Hill Revelation

If you are a fan of the video game series you might enjoy it. If you enjoyed the first one and all the different monsters that they brought to life then you will probably enjoy this one.

This is many years down the line and the little girl we watched and hoped would be saved in the first movie is now almost 18. They have moved again and she now has nightmares of Silent Hill, but remembers nothing of being there. When her father is kidnapped she must return to Silent Hill to save her father.

The story is nothing special, but the special effects are great. I loved the last films special effects and this film continued to show all the great things that made the game scary. The final showdown in the movie is fun and entertaining.

The movie stars Adelaide Clemens as Heather/Alessa. Our young daughter now almost an adult. Kit Harington plays Vincent. He befriends her after she nearly escapes death, after she realizes she is being followed. Carrie-Anne Moss plays Claudia Wolf, a psycho mother who plans to bring the orders god into this world, once Alessa is destroyed. Sean Bean plays Harry, Heather's adoptive father.

If you like video game movies, horror movies, great monster special effects or seeing strange things. Give this movie a try. You will be able to pick up the dvd or bluray on Feb 12, 2013

I give it a 3 out of 5.

The Following Kevin Bacon's new tv series on FX

So I caught this tonight. I wanted to see it because I love television and I give it pretty much every show a chance.

First off the show is intense. I couldn't believe the non stop thrill ride that the show offered. It was really well written. Kevin Bacon's character is great at playing broken and angered. The scary serial killer is well acted.

I thought the show was going to be a chase of Joe, the serial killer, but instead it's more a roller coaster ride of fear, suspense and crazy. The pilot episode he is caught after killing the only girl who originally survived his attacks.

This is definitely on my watch list. I can't wait to see the story unfold.

For A Good Time Call on DVD Jan 22, 2013

This film comes out on DVD/Bluray on Jan 22 ,2013. I really wanted to see it in theatres but no theatres close to me had it playing. I was really sad. This looks like so much fun. The idea of a sex phone line.. I won't lie, I've thought about it, easy money.

Two college frienemies ( I have quite a few myself) end up moving in together so they can afford a nice apartment. They start a phone sex line, and become close friends after learning about the sex world.

The DVD/Bluray has no special features.

I can't wait to get out and pick this up. It looks like too much fun.

Silver Linings Playbook a review

I had to see a Rated R movie this weekend and I had really wanted to see this so I took the chance and decided on it. I took my mother, my boyfriend wanted to see it but he had work. I will be either renting it the day it hits redbox or seeing it again in theatres. I LOVED it. I can see why it is up for an Oscar for Best Picture.

The main actors Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are phenomenal. The film is about two people suffering from different issues that meet and end up helping each other. Bradley Cooper is suffering from Bipolar and anger issues and is released from a psyche ward after 9 months when his mother takes him out early. He comes home with the desire to save his marriage. Jennifer Lawrence is a young widow who is suffering from depression and sexual promiscuity. She meets Bradley Cooper and they form an unlikely friendship.

The plot is well written, the character development is great. I cried more then a couple times. I really loved it.

I give it a 10 out of 10.

This is 40

I had really wanted to see this because it looked really funny. I got the chance to finally catch it and I wasn't as impressed with it as I had originally thought I would be. I don't know if this is because I couldn't relate to much of the material. I'm not yet 40, I don't have kids and I'm close with my family, and as a couple we are fiscally responsible and don't lie to each other about money.

The movie is about a couple that are both turning 40 and the way life happens for some of us. I just couldn't get behind it. I felt more like the wife was a whiner. The husband was a dreamer that was more like a child, he continuously made choices based on himself and his wants rather then the needs of his family. Everyone in the film to me just seemed more acted then real life.

To me the basis just seemed to unreal. I don't understand how people could be together 14 + years and still lie about money, and not be on track to having there lives together. I guess it's a big thing though, for me it just wasn't an intriguing movie, it didn't hold my attention.

I'd give it a 3 out of 10 stars. Since it did have a few funny jokes but I felt it fell short everywhere else.

Robyn Hood #1 Zenescope (Grimms Fairy Tales)

I am in love with Zenescope, so know you will see me talking about them as often as I can get my hands on a book. So when I saw that this series had just started I was glad to pick it up. It is on like 4 or 5 now I believe, so I am only a little behind. I have 2 to review for you and will be picking up the rest shortly. Just want to make a variety of comic books for myself to get into.... because I need another money sink :P.

This is the story of a girl from another dimension that gets placed in our world because she is the baby of a dark organization and the person that is supposed to kill her chooses not to. So she is stuck with us. She is a kind of troublemaker and constantly is stealing from those she deems to not deserve it.

Its interesting. It's from Zenescope. It has great art. It's everything I want in a comic. 7.5 out of 10. Love it.

Parental Guidance a review

I saw this film this weekend by myself. I had a little free time and thought why not go catch a film. This wasn't my first choice but the only movie playing that I wanted to see when I got to the theatre. But it did much better then I thought it would so I can't complain too much.

I actually enjoyed this movie. The jokes were pretty funny. The acting wasn't terrible and the story was relatable. The grandparents wanting to have a second chance and the grandfather not wanting to let go of his dream. I can relate to that one a lot.

Billy Crystal and Bette Midler are fun as the grandparents, and the 3 actors that play the kids are pretty good. The story has a moral, and its good to see films about family.

3 out of 5 in my opinion. Good family movie.

Upcoming Movies Im excited about :)

There are so many funny movies, dramas and action films coming out that I am looking forward too. So Im gonna do this once a month.. and let you know what films coming out in the next 30 days I am interested in.

In no particular order.. just as I see to list them.

1. Gangster Squad - comes out Jan 11th and it looks good. Tell me no girl can turn down a Ryan Gosling film.

2. Movie 43 -comes out Jan 25th looks stupid but I like the raunchy stupid films, like Scary Movie.. and look at the cast.. come on now.. at least see it for the cast.

3. Hansel and Gretel Witchhunters - comes out Jan 25th and totally my kind of film. Tight leather catsuits and action surrounding fairy tales. Yep I'll be there.

4. Broken City - comes out Jan 18th and definitely looks interesting. I love Russel Crowe so I will probably see it for that fact.

5. Baytown Outlaws - comes out Jan 11th and looks like fun. Love those action films.

6. Parker - comes out Jan 25th and stars Jason Statham. Need I say more.

7. Zero Dark Thirty - comes out Jan 11 and I will see it only because of the high approval of everybody, but not my type of film.

8. A Haunted House - comes out Jan 11th and same reason as Movie 43 I love stupid movies.

9. Warm Bodies - comes out February 1st and I liked the book can't wait for the movie.

10. Bullet to the Head - comes out February 1st its Stallone and action.

11. Stand Up Guys - comes out Feb 1st and it has Christopher Walken. Must see.

12. A Glimpse into the Mind of Charles Swan III - comes out Feb 8th and stars Bill Murray and Charlie Sheen. I am in love with Charlie Sheen, so yeah its happening.

13. Side Effects - comes out February 8th and stars Channing Tatum.

14. Indentity Thief - comes out Feb 8th and looks incredibly funny.

Now this is just mainstream movies I am looking at.. I might make a list of artsy type films.. but I rarely catch them until they are on dvd.

Dredd on DVD Jan 8th, 2013

So I got the chance to see this in theatres when it came out and was pleasantly surprised with the outcome of the film. I really liked the casting of the characters and enjoyed the film in general. I wasn't really sure what to expect since it was a remake of a fun film but I gave it a chance and was glad I had.

I really enjoyed it. For those of you that don't know the story. In the future we have Judges that basically like police patrolling the only difference is they pass out judgement, so if you have done something terrible they are allowed to kill you.

The actors were really good in the roles, the action was fun. The film overall is a fun action film worth seeing.

Jack Reacher a review

Now I am not the biggest Tom Cruise fan, but I think he has acting talent, just is as nutty as a can of cashews. We couldn't decide what to see yesterday so when we both decided to see Jack Reacher we were happy to give it a chance.

I never saw a trailer leading up this only the billboards so I had a little bit different idea of what the movie was about. I thought he was like a contract killer, not a guy in for justice. The movie is about a guy who kills 5 random people in a sniper showing, who when asked to confess asks for Jack Reacher. Jack shows up and takes on the case. I don't want to tell you too much because the story is actually good. Lots of foreshadowing, twists, character development and surprises. I did figure out some things early on but it didn't ruin the twists and enjoyment of the movie.

The plot was well done, the characters all had good life to them, the actors did their part to bring enthusiasm and charisma to the part they were playing. The director did a good job of casting doubt on characters, creating tension and setting up the scenes.

I definitely would suggest catching this one if you like action films, are a fan of Lee Child, or like Tom Cruise in movies. It was a 4 out of 5 in my book.

Les Miserables a review

Now I am a musical theatre fanatic and more then that I love Les Mis. It is a great musical, the score is amazing and I love so many of the songs. So I was a bit hesitant when I heard the movie was being made, because so many things can go wrong, but in truth so far I have really liked all the movie versions of musicals I have seen, so I don't know where the fear comes from.

Of course Hugh Jackman is great in the film. Playing our lead and man can you hear the power in his voice. He may not be my favorite in the film but he does do a great job. Then Anne Hathaway blows us away with her tearful and emotional I Dreamed a Dream. She really is up and coming and will probably be in more musicals if she gets the chance. I enjoyed Russel Crowe even though of the bunch he is the least seasoned singer, but he puts his all into the performance and in my opinion does a grand job.

I loved the settings, the characters that each individual actor brought to life. With the movie being shot with live singing that definitely added to it and made it more a musical then the standard movie musical.

If you like musicals go see it. It is worth the money and the time spent.

Django Unchained

Image from IMDB.com

Last night we decided to go see a movie, even though I was pushing for This is 40, we ended up seeing Django Unchained. I wasn't really sure I wanted to see the film. Not really into the Quentin Tarantino style of blood gushing up into the air in every scene kinda thing, but I gave into the boys since I was out numbered.

I like the people in the movie. I always enjoy Jamie Foxx and Leonardo DiCaprio in the films they do. They both are great actors with a wide range, so it wasn't too bad going into the film. The film that followed though was in my favorite Quentin Tarantino film. Now I said I'm not really into his films, doesn't mean I don't like them, they just aren't the DVD I pick up when I want to watch a movie at home.

The movie had a great plot, with lots of action, adventure, love, and twists. I couldn't always see what was coming and I love that in a film. It's the story of a slave, freed on a journey to save his wife. It's really well put together. It has the Tarantino flair for the spraying blood and over the top bloody deaths, but it makes the film more lighthearted for the heavy subject it deals with.

Christopher Waltz plays my favorite character as the german dentist/bountyhunter, who free Jamie Foxx and helps him on his journey. He really plays up his part and gets into the character and makes you want to see him on screen more. Tarantino couldn't have picked a better actor for the role and I'm glad to see him performing in such a great role.

There are a few scenes I had to turn my head at, but I'm a gushy girl, so they probably aren't too bad. Samuel L Jackson plays his role delightfully and is great in his role, the way he interacts with the whole cast is fun to watch. I truly love his acting, he is so versatile and interesting to see in action.

If you like Quentin Tarantino, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo Dicaprio or the old western style movies with a bit of B rated gore, go catch this film. If you don't like the gore you might not enjoy it, but it really is a good movie. Put together wonderfully and fun and enjoyable.
