2012 neglected, 2013 rise from the ashes.

I neglected this blog in 2012. I admit it. I wrote for another blog that sadly has fallen by the wayside. So I am coming back strong here in 2013. I am trying to get all my ducks in order. So be ready for lots of posts. Movies, Dvd releases, tech gear, geek events, geeky toys, makeup looks inspired by geeky stuff, my sewing/costuming projects and more. This year is going to be big. I will also be Vlogging on my youtube channel. So watch out there's lots more to come.

The Comeback

I had given up writing on this blog because I was writing for another geeky blog and I just didn't think I would have enough to talk about.. but I have decided that I really like talking about my geeky stuff and on my free days I should be doing the things I love so here I am.

More so I am here and on facebook and on youtube. The video will be up and running in like an hour. Probably actually already up by the time you or anyone is reading this.

Comic Con SDCC is in 16 days and I have been doing the happy dance for a month now since I got my Pro pass approved. I think everyone at my work thought I won the lottery when I screamed because I saw the text message from the editor of the blog I write for who so graciously helped me get my pass. <3

So now to talk about the fact that I will be dressing up for Comic Con every single day. First day I will be running around as the pink ranger :) Yay I loved the tv series as a kid. Spent some of my evenings with the Green/white ranger after some of the days they filmed. I even went to the premiere of the first film. So yeah it is my thank you in a sexy form for making my childhood brighter. Also for teaching me girls could be anything they wanted to be ... like a kickass fighter in spandex. :D

The next two decided cosplay outfits are Poison Ivy and Raven from Teen Titans with my own spins. Not certain if I am going to do a one piece or 2 piece for Ivy.. I need help so if you got an idea please tell me :)

Still have two costumes completely undecided and thinking on them right now.. hopefully will figure them out before the free days of costume sewing take place.

Underworld Awakening IMAX 3D

So I saw the midnight screening tonight of Underworld Awakening. I absolutely adore Kate Beckinsale and find her tempting and hot in that smoking black patent leather catsuit and corset.

I loved the movie but then I loved the three that preceded it. I was happy with this action in the film and with the direction they took the movie. Sometimes franchises lose steam after a third film, but this one kept on trucking and in my opinion holds up well against the 2nd and 3rd films.

I was overly excited when I saw who was in the film. I love Kris Holden-Reid. He plays a werewolf cop in Lost Girl. So I jumped for joy when I saw he was in the cast. I also was happy to see India Eisley from The Secret Life of an American Teenager.

As you may know the film was released in IMAX 3D. Being the fan I am I couldn't deny myself the complete experience being offered here. Unfortunately, I'm pretty damn well blind in my left eye, so I don't think I was able to really soak in the full effect. Nevertheless it still impressed.

I can't wait for a 5th installment. I love the series and love Kate. I say bring on more.

George R. R. Martin

I fell in love with George R R Martin back during the release of "The Game of Thrones" the first book in his series, not the TV show. I absolutely love the way he writes the series telling the story from so many points of view.

I actually picked up the book because my best friend found the book and asked me to read it with him. I remember him calling me to tell me he had read ahead of me and there was a part that was going to make me cry, then me calling him back two hours later balling my eyes out cause he was right. ( I won't say which part for those of you who haven't read the book or seen the show.)

While waiting for Dances with Dragons to hit the shelves, I found a copy of Tuf Voyaging (one of his out of print collection of stories) at a library. I fell in love with it. Funny thing though cause I am not really into space related story telling and this story is set in space. Yet I've read it tons of times and absolutely adore it. I was so sad to return the book to the library, but amazingly near my birthday that year George announced on his blog they had found some copies of Tuf Voyaging. So I am now the proud owner of a Autographed Hardback. :D

The year before Game of Thrones came out on HBO, I followed his blog everyday checking constantly for who was being cast in the series. I was excited for some, unhappy and unsure about others, but I will say in the end after seeing the show, I'm pretty satisfied with the cast. There are parts I'm not completely sold on but overall I am pleased with all his choices. Since he had such a huge role in how the show came to be.

Sadly I am behind on my reading. I bought Dances with Dragons the day it came out and it is still sitting next to my bed never opened. I plan to read it this month because I am dying to know what happens next.

If you haven't read his books run over to your local bookstore or Amazon.com and get on it now. You will fall in love with him, just as I did. Also pick up the TV series, it's really good.

Cosplay

The geeky world is continuously becoming more main stream. Cosplay is definitely though mostly seen at conventions but is becoming more and more a normal day thing. You see clothing designed to have animal ears, outfits designed like anime costumes, and other crazy fun-ness.

I love Cosplay personally. I love dressing up. I am always dressed up as something. This year I went to SDCC as Raven from Teen Titans, a Raver Kitten, The White Queen, and a Belly Dancer.

I'm planning on going to wondercon as Harley Quinn this year. and maybe Bloodrayne (depending on funds).
